GIL BROWAËYS

GALLOPING TRISOPHENIA

Trying to always say the things that cannot be said.
This is the eternal though essential question posed by Gil Browaëys, ceramist and sculptor.
In his work he brings together two clays, brown and ochre clay blended with porcelain. This amalgam of clays, powerful yet fragile and supported by wood-firing, evokes simultaneously the language our origins, the history of humanity, the world of the day after tomorrow.
He uses clays that are black, deep, volcanic, mineral, bringing them together with blue, yellow or pink glazed clays which also call to mind the cliffs near his workshop.
This work is kneaded with humility; it perturbs our regard and questions a possible progression.
We are at Lascaux, and on the walls we are also watching images by Spielberg, Cameron, Godard, ones from the year 3000.
It’s an alert, "Help me".
"…The night was already contemplating the stars…"
