Myriam Bouchard
Myriam Bouchard trained in ceramics with professionals during journeys to Europe, Indonesia and the United States. Her graphic design studies taught her exacting standards, balance, the accuracy of volumes and a critical process that is always in flux. Clay and techniques, be it using the wheel, coils or slabs, firing with gas or wood are used to create each unique piece, whether it is a functional or sculptural object. Thus, vases, bowls and abstract sculptures are first and foremost about texture, material and colour, combined and contrasted, in keeping with a Japanese aesthetic that is both affirmed and accomplished. Her tea bowls are collectors’ items.
