Trilogie + 1

Parcours sonore sur céramique
Gisèle Buthod-Garçon – Brigitte Marionneau, Flore Loireau

Commissariat : Bruno Reichmann

Three ceramists on board + 1 musician, an encounter between clay, sound, light, an exhibition that is displayed in a different way, pieces presented through a personalised progression in both light and sound, the works have been presented in space with correlating sound and vision that develops within a defined, chosen timeframe…

The initial point of departure was born out of a common desire, to make people look at contemporary ceramic work in a different way, in a sense to slow down, to stop time, to take the viewer into a different dimension, a personalised space,  one where we are aware that we are part of the complete investment that is required for birth, the transformation and finally the culmination of every work of art, whatever it may be…

Hence the desire for another dimension: sound: the challenge is complete: although composing music based on text or images (theatre, poetry, cinema etc…) may be more or less straightforward, doing so in the context of a ceramics exhibition is a whole other adventure…

so it is as if time had stopped, frozen in the moment, and it’s up to the composer to revive, to unfold, of course in a subjective way, this life inspired by the artist; the starting point: first of all the collection of sound material from within the workshops, the creative spaces, a sensory encounter with the artists, then into the studio comes the transformation of the all the recorded stuff, placing it into an acoustic space…

Then comes then the light, three points that evolve, attempting to reveal the outlines in a new way, the angles, the shaping, the slip, the glazes, all created from the ceramist’s loving hands and finally revealed by its passage going through flame and fire….

A new way of accompanying the spectator visitor discoverer so that the work of art  lives, and comes to life for ever and ever, life…
